About the collection

Our clothes are a way we can feel at home. They live with us and provide protection, comfort and expression. This collection of patches reflects the kind of affirmation we can find in our clothes, when they feel like an extension of ourselves and find home in the everyday. Home is a feeling, one we can carry around with us, even if we haven’t found four walls to inhabit long term.

About the artist

Amber Bardell is a multidisciplinary artist working predominantly with mixed media painting in Bristol, UK. Their latest collection ‘Making Home’ reflects on the power the creative practice can have in feeling at home, in times of transient living conditions and travel.

FAQS

How do I know the size of the patch is right for me?

If you are unsure if the size of the patch is right for you, we recommend using a piece of paper cut to size to try out different positions and placements on your chosen garment.

Which application should I go for? Iron on or sew on?

Both applications have their pro’s and con’s. Iron on patches are very easy and quick to apply but don’t work on fabrics that can’t withstand high heat. An iron on patch can also make your garment stiffer, which can be uncomfortable when the fabric is quite thin. Sew on patches require a basic level of sewing skills but will have a more seamless feel on your garment. They can also be reused.
